Yours, Mine And Ours

1. Our current reading material. Matt is the world's biggest fan of history and current events. The man is seriously a walking news report and bearer of political banter. I found the Calm Birth book at the library a week ago and it couples quite nicely with the hypnobirthing method I've been practicing. And then of course, we have the most gigantic of books about the most gigantic of machines for Luke, which he reads approximately 16 times a day.

2. Our recent favorite snacks of choice. I am obviously the only healthy one in the group ;)

3. Our go-to movies as of late. So I know Fifa isn't exactly a movie, but that is what Matt does with all of his free time, much to my pleasure and enjoyment... sike! Here is a little confession about me: I am hopelessly obsessed with below average chick flicks -- specifically ones starring J.Lo. Can't tell ya what it is about them, but they bring me a sense of happiness similar to that of eating a huge chocolate cake. Mix one of these movies with the topic of pregnancy and I'm set! Need I explain Luke's choice of movie? A true Disney classic for boys.

What do the little details look like in your life? Would love for you to link up any of the current happenings in your world!

Yours, Mine And Ours

1. Our sunblock and tanning essentials. Matt is a quarter Mexican so he turns the loveliest shade of brown you've ever seen. I am pale, pale, pale so I try my best to get some color (although Matt will always and forever put my "tan" to shame). Luke sits somewhere in the middle and has that perfect golden tan, and oh boy does it look adorable with that blond mop!

2. Our swim bottoms (if you look closely, you may see remnants of sand on the little tike's trunks).

3. Our beach footwear. Matt's flip flops broke and we are too lazy to go get new ones. But, Sperry's are a stylish man's beach essential, right?

Considering we spend every waking hour at the beach on the weekends and on the days that it's sunny, this pretty much sums up what we will be doing all summer. It's fun to keep track of Luke's growing feet, as these shoes are already getting too snug! Guess it's time to get him those salt waters! I lived in my white ones as a kiddo, and can't for him to get that sweet, criss-crossed tan line.

What do the little details look like in your life now that the sun is out and about?

I have been wanting to make this a linkup, and with the positive response to the suggestion, here it goes! I would love to see what makes you and your adorable family you! Link it up below and be sure to link it back to this post! Can't wait to see what is "yours, mine and ours"! :)

Yours, Mine And Ours

1) Hands: Matt, 27; Abbey, 25; Luke, 15 months
2) Feet: Matt, 27; Abbey, 25; Luke, 15 months
3) Eyes: Matt, 27; Abbey, 25; Luke, 15 months

Learning to love my natural self has always been a fight. A battle in my mind of what is "beautiful" and "desirable" in the materialistic standards of the world, versus embracing the body that allows me to fully experience the joys and true beauty that same world offers. Being a part of the blogging culture comes with a lot of digital enhancement, tweaking, and erasing flaws. But how does that help? I like to witness that other women out there are happily living in their imperfections and welcoming them with open arms. I don't want to be afraid of judgments anymore, I just want to fully love myself. Unpainted toenails and all (which is a weird insecurity I've had all my life -- my toenails being unpainted and bare).

I can tell you the exact shape, tone, and look of every part of Luke. Call it the mother's memory. And that sweet, tiny body of his is perfect. At what point do we go from appreciating this precious gift and start critiquing it and demanding it's not good enough? Don't get me wrong, I don't like body hair, pimples, wrinkles and any other funky thing that happens to the aging body (and obviously I like makeup and all that crazy stuff), but it is part of being human. We don't need to be freakishly and perfectly glossy and preened with a certain body fat percentage to be exquisite and loving of ourselves.

Hence, I give you the hands, feet, and faces of the ones I love, myself included, even though it scares me a little to put these out there for the world to see. Unedited (minus a few exposure and lighting adjustment to give the best view of the photos), no cosmetics (although those are the remnants of some lash extension -- no, my lashes are not that long naturally! I wish!), and raw -- just the way God made us. And you know what? I think they are beautiful.

Yours, Mine And Ours

1. What we are currently stuffing our noses into for split seconds at the beach or late at night when the world's dozed off.
2. We like our caps around here, especially since it means taking the easy way out and not doing our hair for the day! High five to bed head!
3. Our lifelines. Let it be known that this monstrosity of an Otter Box has saved my phone from its death probably 126 times. My clumsy hands mixed with Luke's throwing baby angst spells for disaster. Isn't Luke's little phone cute (remember the days of snake?!)?

1. Our hairbrushes -- clearly we all have very different hair needs.
2. Current favorite toys.
3. Moisturizing is important to us, and I highly recommend anything Burt's Bees for your wee one.
4. What we've been snacking on lately... Matt is incredibly healthy, huh? ;) And these are the best gluten-free crackers if you ask me.

What do your little life details presently look like?

Yours, Mine And Ours

1. Our favorite shoes we wear practically everyday. 2. What we are currently reading. 3. We like to color coordinate in blue plaid. 4. Our favorite fruits we can't live without.

Life with a baby moves all too quickly. What am I saying? Life in general moves all too quickly. The older we get, the faster the days shoot through the door and exit through the window. It's this rumble of moments, memories, and emotions all swirled together and the next thing you know you are 10 years older and wrinkles are setting up a permanent residence on your face.

Sometimes I just want to scream, "sttttttooooooooopppp!" and press pause. Recline and put my feet up without the impending thought looming in the back of my brain that time is of the essence so hurry, hurry, hurry!

This life is a funny thing sometimes. In an effort to savor those moments that inevitably slip through the cracks by the seconds, I will be recording every other week the little things that make us, well, us. What books we are currently discovering. Our favorite foods. The clothes we wear. Anything that represents our family, our interests and how it all binds us together.

Would love for you to join in on capturing the little details that add up to create your wonderful life!
