Does Blogging Make One Thinner?

Shirt: LOFT (similar). Pants: Thrifted (similar). Hat: Madewell (similar). Shoes: c/o PB&J Boutique. Sunglasses: Target. Lipstick: NYX.

Hello, white pants! How do ya' do? I remember when we bid adieu last fall, and I am happy to see your brightness back on my legs. Gives a girl an extra skip in her step.

After looking back on those old photos of the last time I wore these pants, I have clearly lost weight. Which leads me to this theory that I have. The theory that blogging makes you thinner. Now that I have been blogging for years (when did that happen?!) I subsequently have been reading blogs for years. And I swear to you that majority of the people have become more thin. Or, perhaps it is just we have all learned our skinniest angles. Either way, I am convinced that narcissistically staring at yourself on a computer screen day after day will in fact cause you to lose weight, whether you are aware of it or not.

Is it just me that thinks that? Are my eyes playing tricks on me?

My weight dropped once I finally found out I had Celiac's Disease and got my hypothyroidism under control. Regulating the body's metabolism and cutting out all wheat products will do that to a person. I wish I had some inspirational workout story to tell, but it was really just getting my health in order. Sooo, should you feel not quite like yourself and you just can't seem to shed those last 10 lbs of baby weight or whatever it may be, perhaps you should get your thyroid checked! It can literally be a life saver, helping physically and emotionally.

And that is my story of how I lost my weight and one of my numerous (and ridiculous) theories on blogging. The end.

You look amazing! I love that hat!
I totally agree with you. I think that when we are constantly looking at ourselves on the computer we tend to say "hey I could lose a little here and there"

Makes perfect sense.

Uhm, no blogging made me fatter. Haha! Well, because I consider myself pretty good in taking food pictures so I just loved eating out and taking pretty pictures until I noticed that my tummy in one of my outfit pictures isn't so pretty anymore. So after the holidays, I decided to lose weight and fit in my oldest jeans :D

I love the outfit btw! I've never had white pants because I'm always scared I'll come home like a dirty kid who played with dirt!

So happy to welcome back white pants into the wardrobe, although I'm pretty sure I wore them a few times in winter! I have to agree with you on the losing weight aspect of blogging- I can't pin point why though?

It's SOOO true!! Whenever I take outfit photos, I know what poses make me look skinny and which ones don't! It all depends on your angles! haha :)

I was thinking this a couple months ago! You see pics of yourself and think, "is my chin bigger? Did my pants get tighter/smaller?" I think I know my better angles, but I also think that see any gain faster and I try to eat better/exercise more immediately.

You look great! Can I ask what you did to help your hypothyroidism? Are you just taking the medication? I'm trying to get my hormones all figured out.

Or they've learned how to use liquify in Photoshop? I'd prefer it's just nice, healthy weight loss, but it's possible once bloggers learn more about photography and Photoshop they discover how to make themselves look thinner with that little tool. Either way, interesting point!

You look great Abbey! I got diagnosed with severe gluten intolerance and since I gave up gluten 7 mos ago I have actually gained weight, weird right? I feel healthier though so I can't complain too much :)

You look lovely pretty mama! I have definitely seen some of my favorite bloggers slim down & notice that I myself can look +/- 10 lbs due to my camera angle (and always get comments from my readers when I do!). Here's to being our healthiest and most fabulous selves!

I agree with your theory, although for me at least, it was a conscious choice to be more active, and blogging just made me more aware because I could see the results! i love these white jeans by the way, I need a pair of my own!

You've completely inspired me to ask my doctor to get tested for my thyroid... I have been feeling "off" for the last year or two and both of my Grandmother's have hypothyroidism, and when I looked at the symptoms I have a solid 7 or 8. May or may not be, but I didn't really think about younger people having this issue... it could explain a lot for me! That all said, you look amazing, I am loving the white denim. And as for your theory, I'd have to disagree... only because I've somehow managed to gain 20lbs since I first started my blog. Ack.

I haven't posted recent pictures of myself up on my blog, yet. But when I do, I'll be sure that it's of me in the morning before I've had any breakfast. :)

Getting thyroid checks done is a great suggestion - my SIL finally got her hyperthyroidism diagnosed after a year of trying to figure out why she was sick all the time, so tired, super depressed, etc. It's kinda crazy how the body works, really. Also, you are rocking those white pants! Jelly.

I am definitely on my way to losing weight, as I've started working out avidly and am trying to eat healthier. I definitely think it has something to do with my blog pictures, because seeing it all on a screen makes it so much more real than glancing at myself in the mirror.

I'm sure that applies to a lot of people too. So I think your theory is correct, at least for me.

haha--I'm actually pretty sure that I've gained a few pounds since starting blogging. Then again, I'm currently working on getting my eating back on track--it wasn't blogging, but finding out that my favorite shorts were a tad tight that was my wake up call! :P

Hi! Yeah, I agree. I use to follow some strictly fashion blogs but over time I noticed some of the girls became way too skinny (too thin in some cases). I'm not one to hate but I already have body issues so it was hard for me to continue going back to look at them. I prefer blogs where there is a balance with positive body image...just my opinion though :-)
