Shot To The Heart

Cardigan: LOFT. Blouse: LOFT. Skinnies: Express. Flats: Vintage. Readers: Vintage.
Luke got his 2 month shots on Tuesday. So sad. Smiling and cooing one moment, followed by a sudden onset of screaming and tears. I do believe those were his first tears of pain. They were flowing out of his poor little eyes as the blood dripped down his thighs from the needle. Too graphic? I'm just going for the drama here. It was just a tiny drop of blood, which was immediately covered with a band-aid.

Zoom to my face... a weeping, puffy-eyed mess as I watched the nurse torment my baby.

We have now successfully spent the last two days cuddling and eating non-stop. Bye-bye 97th percentile for weight, hello uncharted waters of 110th percentile, AKA fattest 2 month old alive.

Awe- shot time is the worst!

I'm not a Mama yet, but I am a Nanny. I've had to take children to the Doctor for their shots before- most recently a month ago.

J is a year old now- I found that it's easier to handle when you spend the few moments before & during making the little person completely relaxed and unshaken by the shot.
J was a champ and didn't even notice what happened- maybe it had to do with my crazy faces and car noises?? :)

Man I cried right along with my babies too! It is quite traumatic! My third little girl had such fat legs, she didn't even wince ... I swear she didn't feel a thing! Happy day! (But fat babies are awesome - don't you agree?!)

Awww! I watched my nephew go through that now he's a strong big boy though. We'd always ask for a female to draw blood or give him a shot and ask "You're a brave boy right? I love brave boys!" before the shot. No sweat and tears involved in that strategy ;)

Love that Luke's sticking his tongue out in pretty much all the pictures :)
