Crying Babies On Airplanes

Cardigan, Denim, Sandals: LOFT. Tee: Old Navy. Initialized Necklace: Sprightly So.
Come tomorrow, I might be that person with the screaming baby everyone despises. We will be traveling to Chicago to Matt's old stomping grounds. That is a 4 hour flight. In baby hours, that is like 3 days stuck in a tightly packed airplane cabin. Yikes.

Am I nervous? Sort of. More for the fact of getting all our luggage checked and making it through security without any major issues. As for Luke, he is the perfect child. I don't think I've ever mentioned it before, but the kid smiles 99% of the time and hardly ever cries. That is not an exaggeration. He is golden. Don't know where he got that from, because I am an emotional basket case. Matt is pretty mellow though. Guess I answered my own question. Glad I could talk that out.

Anyway, in light of Luke's golden child status, I am keeping my fingers crossed that he will charm his fellow passengers with his gummy smile and keep the crying to a hungry signal only.

I know that I need to make sure he is sucking for takeoff and landing because of air pressure. The bags are packed with toys and books. Food supply is ample. I think we are pretty much set. Any other tips for traveling with a baby that you'd like to share? I'd greatly appreciate them. Wish us luck!

I'm sure he'll be great! We've traveled lots with our little guy - he's a little older than yours, but we traveled with him at that age, too. I wrote some tips here, if it helps!: laceetc.blogspot.com/2012/05/tips-for-travel-with-baby-or-toddler.html

Darling outfit ... love the braids ... no tips about the flight though. Hard to gauge how babies will do. Crying babies don't bother me too much. As a mother of five, who has flown back and forth from LA to NY multiple times with my kids, I'm just glad the crying baby isn't mine anymore! :)

Be prepared to put your stroller through the scanner. When I flew I just took a small cheap one just in case and it was super easy to fold down and put back up after we got off the plane. He will be fine and people are surprisingly understanding. B even had an airplane Grandma who was sitting next to us, who held him for me for a bit since I was by myself and he was fussy. You're lucky Matt will be with you to trade off! Have a safe flight and a fun trip :)

I hope the flight goes well. We just flew to NYC with Pearl (6 hour flight) and it went just fine! There was some crying on the flight home, but it wasn't too bad.

Your hair is so cute! I can't wait until mine is long enough to fishtail.

Good luck traveling with the little one!

I just flew to Seattle and back with my newborn and wild 2yr old, without Abe...I was nervous that it would be awful but we survived! (The awful part was the unexpected 4hr layover in Denver, with 2 incredibly tired and cranky kids, a major diaper blow out and soda pop spill :) I'm sure your flight will be fine! but thank goodness you have your husband so you can at least share the awfulness if it does happen :)

It sounds like you have all the baby travel necessities! If he does start crying just get up and walk around with him. If your flight attendants are nice (like me, haha) they won't mind if you need to stand in the galley for a little bit while he calms down :)

Have fun and hope the flight is a great one. I know what you mean though...I am always terrified of flying with Moo. So nerve wracking for mothers.

Cheers.

I'm sure he'll do great! Plus, you'd be surprised how understanding most people are when it comes to fussy babies!

Great casual outfit - and like you I will be traveling with my little Grant this month and am a little terrified. Our first trip with the baby. Good luck! But having a great baby is the best - I relate - Grant is the happiest so we are blessed.
